IDC Overview

The Instructor Development Course (IDC) is comprised of two parts - the Assistant Instructor (AI) course and the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program. Most dive professionals complete the entire IDC and go on to attend an Instructor Examination (IE), which is the final step to earn a PADI Instructor certification.

At Maui Dreams Dive Co, our IDC price is inclusive of the required Emergency First Response Instructor Course and you can add on the highly recommended MSDT Prep course with rur Course Director immediatly after your program. This allows you to teach an additional FIVE PADI Specialty diver courses.

A complete schedule will be provided before the start of the IDC which will outline the entire course. This will be reviewed on the first day of the IDC. We will be conducting an IDC which includes more practical training and fewer classroom lectures so that you are exposed to more hands-on, real-world-instructor training than ever before.

Our Course Director will verify that you have met the prerequisites listed below and will then be in regular contact with you before the IDC to make certain that you are on track to complete the pre-class study requirements.
